Does Your Neck Need a Little More TLC?

I was running some errands in the mall this summer and saw a woman who looked fairly young walking toward me. Her face was soft and smooth. Her skin fairly glowed.
But as she got closer, I glanced down.
Immediately, my opinion changed. “Well over 50,” I guessed… in spite of a face that said “mid-30s.”
Then I started looking at other women shopping there. There were several with youthful faces… but who gave away their real age with a quick downward glance.
The problem?

How do you approach your skin care regimen? Most people care for their skin in one of two ways.
Maybe you obsess over every little line, pore and blemish. And stock your medicine cabinet with all the latest beauty potions and concoctions. Or maybe you take the minimalist approach and bump skin care to the bottom of your to-do list by using any product you pick up at the supermarket.
Either way, skin care can be pretty complicated! But it doesn’t have to be…
Wake Up Tired, Aging Skin

Most women come to see me about their health. But a lot of them ask about the health of their skin, too. And their top concern seems to be aging skin.
“I use a good cleanser,” they say. “I moisturize and tone. But is there something else I should be doing to keep my skin looking younger?”
My answer is yes, because your skin needs more than moisture. It needs nourishment.
My top choice for younger looking skin is better known for its heart health benefits. In fact, it’s so powerful, it can even improve the condition of people who need heart transplants.1
I’m talking about CoQ10. And it has some remarkable properties that can leave your skin looking years younger. Best of all, CoQ10 can work directly through your skin.

Your skin is starving for attention. And I’m not just talking about dusting on a coat of blush or some lip gloss to help you look your best. On the inside, your skin is craving nutrients, hydration, and a little bit of TLC.
When you take the opportunity to give your skin the nutrients that it needs below the surface, it will reward you with a fresh, youthful complexion that’s obvious for everyone to see.
The best part is that giving your skin what it’s craving is pretty simple. It all boils down to two basic needs to refresh, rejuvenate, and restore your skin from the inside out:
You Can’t Beat Nature for True Beauty

I’ve met so many naturally beautiful people in my travels. From the Andes Mountains of Peru to Africa and India, people have discovered that Nature provides so many ways to help maintain smooth, young-looking skin.
For example, you’ll find women in South Africa with absolutely gorgeous skin… thanks to a mountain shrub called red tea. Or in the Andes, where women who are exposed to intense sun have remarkably smooth and supple skin. These women use a secret they learned from vineyard workers.
I’ve brought many of these discoveries back with me to my practice. I’ve never been disappointed. And neither have the many patients who’ve benefitted from these discoveries.

As a nurse practitioner specializing in natural healthcare, I’m surprised at how many patients come to me confused about how to care for their skin!
They ask me questions like, “Are you supposed to cleanse once or twice a day? Should you always apply a moisturizer? What type of anti-aging products should you use and why?
I’ll let you in on a little secret. Achieving naturally healthy skin is nowhere near as complicated as it may seem.

Your skin needs two things to be beautiful:
1. Water, and…
2. Good nutrition
But there’s a problem. As you age, your skin loses the ability to hold water and take in nutrients. That leads to dry, sagging skin.
Here’s the good news:
You simply need an effective way to keep water in your cells and get more of the nutrients you need.

One Resolution You Can Keep

I can’t tell you how many of my patients come in and tell me they still wash their faces with soap or other harsh cleansers. And many skip toning and moisturizing all together. Or don’t do anything at all.
But this isn’t the way you’re going to get the soft, smooth, radiant, younger-looking skin you’re after. After all, youth means beauty in our culture. And a young, beautiful face is impossible to ignore.
That’s why I recommend that if you’re going to make a New Year’s resolution, make it establishing a skincare regimen. It’s one of the easiest resolutions to keep going and will show you some really great results.
