Do you worry about your hair?

My best advice is to stay away from chemical-laden pills, potions and hair-growth treatments.

If you want your hair to be thick, strong and shiny, here’s what you need to know…

First, you need biotin. Research shows that biotin promotes hair growth, strength and manageability by increasing elasticity and thickening the cuticle.1

Biotin, especially when combined with niacinamide, helps to prevent cholesterol from collecting on the scalp – which can trigger the formation of dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This naturally produced metabolite can weaken your hair follicles. Articum majus root also helps to block DHT.

At my clinic, I have a solution I’ve used with my patients. I’ve seen their hair look silkier and more lush and full than ever before.

It’s called Infuse, and it’s packed with biotin, niacinamide, articum majus root, plus the following ingredients:

Fenugreek – Traditional Chinese medicine has used Fenugreek for more than 2,000 years. Fenugreek can stimulate your blood circulation and promote the appearance of a full head of thick hair.

Panax Ginseng Root – This increases scalp stimulation, enhancing hair depth and thickness.

Arginine, acetyl tyrosine, citrulline and ornithine HCL – These amino acids are the building blocks of hair structure.

Zinc Gluconate – This nutrient teams with the B vitamins in Infuse to block DHT.

Studies on Infuse show it results in thicker, stronger, silkier, shinier hair. It also helps to diminish scalp irritation.

One of my patients told me, “Before Infuse, I just couldn’t get over my thinning hair. It seemed that my hair was going down the drain every morning in the shower. Now my hair has more body than ever, and it’s no longer going down the drain.”*

Infuse your hair today without drugs or harmful chemicals.

Some mornings I wake up and I’m not sure how I feel… should I or shouldn’t I?

There are women out there who are blessed with hair that looks better after a few days without washing. But if you’re like me, you may feel like you need to re-vamp yesterday’s perfect coif.

Problem is, you may just not feel like a hair wash. Or you might find yourself rushing to work.
Sometimes, there’s no time.

But a stylist I came across – Sanda Petrut from Maxine Salon in Chicago – has got you covered. In fact, she recommends purposely running around with day-old hair every now and again because it’s actually good for your hair.

“Not washing your hair daily allows for the natural oils to develop, which gives hair plenty of movement, separation and sexiness,” she says. It can make hair easier to style and save you time and energy.

Here are Sanda’s suggestions:

If you want to add mega-volume to seemingly lifeless locks, try this: Before you go to bed, take your hair and lift it vertically to create a high ponytail on top of your head, making sure it’s not too tight. By sleeping with your hair up like this, you’ll create natural fullness and lift in your hairstyle the following day.

You can also add mousse to dry hair, fluff it until it dries and brush it out. The results are instant shine and fullness.

For longer hair, add more texture and body by using a 1½-inch curling iron and curling random pieces. You can also re-blow dry hair using a large round brush.

For short hair, tuck your hair behind your ears and then change the direction of your bangs.

If you want laid-back, yet sexy “beach-y” hair, try this: Before going to bed, mist your hair with water and create loose braids. In the morning, undo the braids and brush it gently. If you have bangs, mist with water and re-style them.

Want more wave? Just use a big curling iron, 1 inch to 1¼ inch.

Got another night on the town? Part your hair down the middle and start braiding your hair on both sides of your head towards the back, twisting the braids into a nice bun and then leave the ends sticking out.
This simple, no-fuss style is easy to put together, yet will elegantly polish off any evening look.

Have a Youthful Day,

My patient S.W. wanted me to look at her cholesterol results.

Her doctor told her they were concerning.

But I ended up finding something that was much more concerning to me, and to her.

In examining her, I parted her hair to look at her scalp. I saw a problem I see much more often than I used to. She had very thin, sparse hair with a bald scalp that would remind you of an elder male.

She was embarrassed to admit it, but she had been using hair spray and products that are designed to disguise balding in men – like that paint stuff – for years. And she never thought there was anything she could do about it, so she never mentioned it to me.

I used to see this kind of thing rarely, but now I’m seeing it all the time. In the last fifteen years I’ve been practicing, this problem has at least quadrupled.

Fortunately, you can stop this from happening to you.

Today, I’m going to show you how to do two simple things so you can keep a full head of thick shiny hair.

First, let me explain a little about why this is happening…

It starts with a modern epidemic that’s going on – an epidemic of too much estrogen. You’re getting it in your food, and from chemicals in the environment which act like estrogen when they get into your body.

What this does is cause a “feedback inhibition” in your hormone system. It causes you to produce less follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). They normally stimulate the ovaries to produce both estrogen and progesterone.

Your estrogen is going to be fine, but that decreased production of FSH and LH cause a decrease in progesterone. It has no dietary source, so it then becomes very low.

Here’s where the problems for your hair begin.

Progesterone’s normal role is to give you your sexual features like an hourglass figure, but it also binds to the same receptors as testosterone. It normally blocks the effect of testosterone so it won’t cause masculinization.

When you don’t have progesterone, the testosterone can take its place. So what we have today is a whole generation of women who are getting unwanted facial hair, and they’re getting hair loss in a male pattern from the effect of testosterone, which turns into the hair-blocking hormone DHT.

Normally a woman doesn’t have much DHT because it’s blocked by the progesterone. But with all the estrogen women are getting, progesterone plummets and you have hair loss.

The solution is to stimulate your scalp for healthy blood flow, and block the bad guy that may keep your hair from growing.

The bad guy is DHT (dihydrotestosterone). As DHT forms in your body when you have too much estrogen, it collects in the sebum gland in the scalp and starts to attack your hair follicles. Your strands can shrink and eventually fall out.

So stopping DHT is one effective way to help your hair. But it’s only the first part of hair health. There are also a few other little-known but direct and dynamic ways to get shiny hair that has luster and thickness. You can use them to:

Stimulate your scalp – There’s an herb not many people know about that can stimulate blood flow especially to the small capillaries like the ones that feed the hair root. It’s called fenugreek, and it’s also one of the best herbs to use if you have toxins or other scalp buildup.

Enhance thickness – You might think of ginseng as just a feel-good herb, and it is. But when you use it in your hair, it also increases scalp stimulation in a way that gives you healthy hair depth and keeps each strand thick and strong.1

Keep a full mane – To help stop the hair-blocking hormone DHT, you can use arctium majus root. It helps condition your skin while it keeps DHT from attacking your hair.

Rescue your hair – Amino acids are the building blocks of hair structure, so it’s essential to feed your hair with the ones that help the most. Like acetyl tyrosine, citrulline, and ornithine HCL. They promote healing and repair in your scalp, and help bring out your fullest, healthiest hair.

Deliver the nutrients – B-vitamins are essential to grow healthy hair and nails, but it’s not easy to get enough from food. Two in particular, biotin and niacinimide, get used up growing and building healthy hair, so it’s important to replace them each day.

Improve hair growth – B-vitamins perform a dual function for your hair if you use zinc gluconate… they team up to give hair follicles and your scalp with energy and strengthening. Without enough zinc, your hair shafts get weakened, causing hair breakage and very slow re-growth. They work together to decelerate hair loss and improve hair growth.

Promote that shine – I don’t recommend eating soy, but it turns out to have great benefit for your hair. Hydrolyzed soy protein can give you shinier, thicker hair that stays moisturized.

Unfortunately, pattern hair loss is very severe in the women I see. To where if I part the hair, I see bare scalp.

Then they tend to use a lot of cosmetic things to try to hide it…

That can make the problem worse. That’s why I created a formula for the patients in my clinic who come to me asking if they can do something about thinning hair.

And I’ve had a lot of success with it. Many of my patients are so thrilled they write to me and tell me that their hair looks twice as thick. That they’ve stopped seeing hair in the shower drain, and that their hair is as shiny as a teenager’s.

S.W. told me she hasn’t had to cover up her hair with a hat in over a year.

I’m so happy for all of them. Because I know having a full head of thick shiny hair is every woman’s dream. And I know it makes you feel young and desirable, too.

That’s why I’ve decided to offer this formula to you. I call it Infuse.

Just two convenient spray applications each day and Infuse gets deep into your scalp, down where the roots are. Infuse replenishes those roots and stimulates normal hair growth.

Why do some people start seeing gray hairs in high school while others have a bright head of hair well into their golden years?

The answer is a mix of genetics, age and overall health — with a few other factors thrown in.

Here’s what could be causing those silver strands to crop up…

Hydrogen peroxide buildup. H2O2 is produced naturally in your body, but you become less able to break it down as you age. As it builds up in your cells, it can interfere with melanin, the pigment that colors your hair.1

Vitamin B12 deficiency. Without enough B12, hair becomes dull, brittle and dry. You should know that some drugs may interfere with your absorption of the vitamin — for example, drugs used to treat acid reflux and ulcers, such as Pepcid, Prilosec and Zantac.

Smoking. The chemicals in cigarettes may damage the hair follicles and slow the production of melanin. Smokers are four times more likely to go gray prematurely.2

Stress. Although there’s no definitive proof that your kids or your demanding job cause gray hairs… stress may be a factor. Some researchers believe it affects your “follicle factories.”

Several illnesses like autoimmune and thyroid disorders are also associated with gray hair.

Nature’s Hair Care

So what can you do? Try these superfoods to chase away the gray — or at least slow down the process.

Oysters. They’re rich in copper, which your body needs to produce the melanin that colors your hair.

Alfalfa. Alfalfa has something that can keep your hair strong, shiny and rich in color: Silica. If you aren’t too excited about eating alfalfa every day… you can also get your silica from bell peppers, beets and whole grains.

Fish, meat and eggs. Animal products like these are the only natural sources of vitamin B12. Plus, the protein and amino acids they contain will improve your hair’s texture and strength.

Kefir. If you’re deficient in vitamin B12, kefir can help, too. It’s a fermented drink that contains bacteria and yeast, and these work together to help your body absorb B vitamins.

And if you’re concerned about brittle, dry hair, I recommend a strengthening and thickening spray like this one.

While hair loss may not be life threatening, it doesn’t mean it’s not important – especially when it comes to women.

Hair loss is common subject among men, but you may be surprised to know that more and more women are looking for solutions to thinning hair, too.

As a woman, I know that your hair is your “crowning glory.” When it’s full and silky, you just feel younger and more beautiful.

But when you start seeing more and more hair going down the drain every morning when you take a shower, it can take a real toll on your esteem and your confidence.

The good news is, there are some natural remedies you can try to help combat thinning hair and help your hair look thicker and more luscious than ever before. The secret lies in blocking the deteriorating effects of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the naturally produced metabolite that causes hair loss.

Some vitamins and nutrients that can help “feed your follicles” and decrease the potent DHT are:

Fenugreek – Chinese traditional medicine has used Fenugreek for more than 2000 years. Fenugreek can stimulate your blood circulation and promote the appearance of a full, luscious head of hair.

Panax Ginseng Root – Increases scalp stimulation, enhancing hair depth and thickness

Articum Majus Root and Saw Palmetto – Help block DHT, one of the main causes for hair thinning

Arginine, Acetyl Tyrosine, Citrulline, and Ornithine HCL – These amino acids are the building block of hair structure

Biotin, Niacinimide – B-vitamins that help block the conversion of testosterone to DHT and regulate cellular nutrition

Zinc Gluconate – Teams with the B-vitamins to block DHT

Panthenol and Hydrolized Soy Protein – Proteins to shine, thicken and moisturize hair

These nutrients can help reinvigorate your scalp and restore it to good health. But these solutions may not work for everyone. There could be other underlying reasons for your hair loss. But give it a try and see if it works for you.

That’s what happened when I came across shikakai (shee-ka-kai) a few years ago. No one I knew had ever heard of it… but it’s one of the oldest cleansing agents in the world.

Shikakai gently cleanses and conditions, leaving your hair healthy and beautiful.

Women in India have gorgeous hair. And their long, thick tresses aren’t just because they have “good genes.” For countless centuries, Indian women – from wealthy maharinis to poor farm girls – have been washing their hair with shikakai.

Sometimes called “soap-pod,” shikakai is the dried and powdered fruit of an acacia tree. In India, this tree has been a part of herbal tradition since the earliest times. And its fruit has long been prized for its effect on hair.

The name “shikakai” actually comes from ancient Hindi words meaning “fruit for hair.” And if there was ever a fruit to give you more beautiful hair, shikakai is it.

Shikakai is loaded with natural chemicals called saponins. These chemicals have a mild lathering and cleansing effect. Shikakai saponins clean hair effectively, and leave your hair shiny and manageable instead of dry and frizzy.

Shikakai is also a great hair conditioner. This gentle cleanser doesn’t strip the natural oils from your hair, so it helps keep your hair soft and flexible. You naturally get that beautiful “bounce” that says your hair is healthy.

And because shikakai doesn’t remove your hair’s natural oils, you won’t have the tangle problem you do with so many commercial products.

All this makes shikakai an ideal natural shampoo. But it may do much more besides.

Researchers at India’s Sigma Institute of Pharmacy recently looked at many of the herbs used in Ayurvedic medicine. They noted that shikakai promotes hair growth and helps prevent dandruff.1

Added to everything else shikakai does for your hair, this puts it miles ahead of any of today’s commercial shampoos.

Shikakai doesn’t lather as much as commercial shampoos… but don’t be fooled. It provides terrific cleansing action. And as a conditioning treatment, it’s hard to beat a paste made from shikakai powder left on your hair for a couple of hours.

The hot sun, chlorine, salt water and over-washing can result in dry, dragged down, dingy hair by the end of the summer. But I know some great ways to restore the health of your hair this fall:

Classic pony. A ponytail can look quite sophisticated for work and play. It keeps your hair from being in your face and can cover some of the damage you encountered over the summer. Visit your nearest beauty supply store and pick out some pretty, unique clips and clamps to help spice up your ‘do. Get creative!

More moisture. Shampoo can be drying so be sure to wash it less often to restore moisture. You also can also use products that are less drying (alcohol free) and more moisturizing.

Don’t be afraid of a leave-in conditioner – even if your hair is fine. It will help keep your hair from frizzing. Use cooler water for rinsing as well. The sensation can be quite invigorating and will leave your scalp and body feeling refreshed.

Trim those ends. Get your ends trimmed on a regular basis. Hair starts splitting at the ends, so it best to cut them off before it can cause more damage. If you don’t get a trim regularly, the splitting will continue to travel down your hair’s shaft and cause a frizzy, unkempt look.

Nourish it. To keep your hair nourished, be sure to drink plenty of water and try a more natural selection of hair products. Ingredients such as lavender, chamomile, avocado and shea butter are great choices. See your stylist for other treatment options, too.

Another thing I like to do is to give my hair a little extra love with homemade treatments and fun styles. Here’s a couple you can try yourself to keep your hair looking and feeling sexy all year long:

Lather your hair with coconut or olive oil. Cover it with a plastic cap and sit in the sun for 15 minutes. Not only will you get the best hot oil treatment ever, you’ll also benefit from a good dose of vitamin D from the sun. Shampoo and rinse well after that.
Section the crown of your head and tease hair until it sits upright. Comb the rest of your hair to your favorite side of your head and secure with a hair tie. Let the ends hang loose.
Gently brush the crown to leave a slight lift and join with the secure area. And voila! A perfect side ponytail that’s great for day or night.

One of the most embarrassing issues that we as women can struggle with is much more common than you may think. And no, it’s not menopause! It’s actually a problem that is hardly discussed in female circles: thinning hair.

So many women struggle with thinning hair, but most of us are too embarrassed to ask for help. As I thought to myself many times before - isn’t it men that are supposed to be going bald and not women?

For women with thinning hair, restoring health to their hair can also restore much-needed confidence. When your hair becomes thinner and patchier as a result of age, a poor diet, or even a medical condition, it can be devastating.

I’ve been a hairstylist for more than 20 years, and my heart goes out to all of the ladies who come into my salon hoping to mask their thinning hair with a brand-new hairstyle. They’re frustrated. They’re embarrassed. They’re at the end of their ropes because they’ve tried almost every hair care product on the market.

One of the most embarrassing issues that we as women can struggle with is much more common than you may think. And no, it’s not menopause! It’s actually a problem that is hardly discussed in female circles: thinning hair.

So many women struggle with thinning hair, but most of us are too embarrassed to ask for help. As I thought to myself many times before – isn’t it men that are supposed to be going bald and not women?

For women with thinning hair, restoring health to their hair can also restore much-needed confidence. When your hair becomes thinner and patchier as a result of age, a poor diet, or even a medical condition, it can be devastating.

I’ve been a hairstylist for more than 20 years, and my heart goes out to all of the ladies who come into my salon hoping to mask their thinning hair with a brand-new hairstyle. They’re frustrated. They’re embarrassed. They’re at the end of their ropes because they’ve tried almost every hair care product on the market.

Before panic sets in, the good news is that you don’t have to fear premature thinning of hair with age as a woman. There is a solution available to you, but first you have to get to the root of the issue.

When I discussed this common problem with my good friend Dr. Al Sears, M.D., I was interested to find that most cases of thinning hair were actually hormone related. Even though this is pretty normal for men, it can also happen to us ladies.

The hormone to blame is called dihydrotestosterone, otherwise known as DHT. Dr. Sears told me something pretty interesting about DHT. Women struggling with thinning or receding hair usually have very high levels of DHT in their blood.

So what are we going to do about it? Dr. Sears cares just as much about restoring confidence in women as I do. He created a product called Infuse, a spray-on strengthening formula that blocks the damage caused by the hormone DHT.

In layman’s terms, Infuse gives your hair and scalp the nourishing vitamins and minerals it needs to promote thick, lustrous hair. Most importantly, Infuse is chock full of biotin, a form of vitamin B, which research suggests is exactly what you need to help promote the appearance of shinier, thicker and healthier hair. Biotin works to thicken the hair cuticle and increase elasticity for silky, vibrant, red carpet-worthy locks. Finally!

As if that wasn’t impressive enough, Infuse also contains such natural ingredients as fenugreek, panax ginseng root, and the amino acids Arginine, acetyl tyrosine, citrulline and ornithine HCL. Fenugreek has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 2,000 years to promote full, thick hair growth. Panax ginseng root stimulates scalp circulation, which enhances hair depth and thickness. And this group of amino acids works as the building blocks of your hair structure – just as Mother Nature intended.

What stuck out most for me about Infuse is the fact that it is completely free from harmful chemicals. I don’t know about you, but it just doesn’t make sense to treat thinning hair with harsh chemicals that have the potential to damage your scalp even further!

Thinning hair can be devastating for anyone, but women especially need all the help that we can get to bring that volume and life back into our hair. I’ve been using Infuse myself along my hairline because I have to admit that I’ve overdone it with a few too many hair weaves and chemical treatments over the years. And it’s really made a difference. It’s no wonder that Infuse is so popular with my female clients in my salon – it can finally make you feel like yourself again.

Click here to check out Infuse for yourself. Plus, if you decide to make the change for more voluptuous hair today you can get Pure Radiance’s own wood comb FREE with your order, for a limited time!

Keep on Stylin’!

Women sometimes come into my salon complaining of “really bad dandruff.” They’ve tried all the usual scalp treatments, but nothing seems to work.

What they don’t realize is that unattractive flaky stuff that falls on your shoulders isn’t always dandruff. Sometimes it’s really psoriasis – and regular dandruff treatments just aren’t going to help.

Over seven million people suffer from this skin condition, so it’s not an uncommon problem. No one’s exactly sure what causes psoriasis. But many things can trigger a flare-up.

Fragrances and other ingredients in shampoos can irritate your skin and scalp. Stress, dry weather, cuts, infections and some medications also may aggravate the problem. Even sunburn can trigger a flare-up.

Your hairdresser may recommend a medicated shampoo, but I find they can dry out your hair and leave you smelling like a medicine cabinet. Doctors usually approach the problem with drugs, such as steroids. But these drugs can have side effects … the least of which include depression and weight gain.

I’ve seen this problem often enough in my salon that I’ve come up with a more natural way to help my clients. In situations like this, I always prefer home remedies. They’ve been around for centuries … and usually give you great results. I’ve always found that your hair and scalp respond better to natural solutions, anyway.

Here’s the best scalp treatment I’ve found for those persistent flakes.

In an applicator bottle, mix two parts olive oil with one part tea tree oil. Mix and set aside. Moisten a cotton swab with apple cider vinegar and use it to clean your scalp thoroughly. Then apply the olive oil/tea tree oil mixture generously to your scalp and gently massage it in.

Cover your hair with a plastic cap and let the mixture sit for at least 10 minutes. Then shampoo thoroughly with warm water (avoid hot water) and continue with your usual styling procedure. Repeat this process once a week, or whenever you notice flakes.

The apple cider vinegar cleans your scalp and helps restore your natural pH balance. Tea tree oil is a natural anti-bacterial. Together with the olive oil, it can help unblock your hair follicles.

Of course, you should always talk to your doctor if you suspect you have any illness. But psoriasis isn’t contagious. And it’s not dangerous for an otherwise healthy person. It’s just itchy, inconvenient and embarrassing.

So if you have a problem with “really bad dandruff,” give this a try. You’ll see how much better you and you scalp will feel.

Keep on Stylin’!
